The
village of Caux is situated at an altitude, between a 1000 and 1200
meters, above Montreux.
All the following paths lead to
Caux: By train,
from Montreux, with the help of the MOB time-tables.

In
order that everybody gets to know the villages of the Commune of Montreux and to
participate in the many traditional or more innovative festivals, to benefit
from infrastructures set up for seasonal activities, the Associations of
interests and development, such as that of Caux, are committed to promoting
their respective villages, organising events open to both local and wider
populations, as well as to maintaining natural sites used for leisure
activities:
downhill and long distance ski
tracks, the natural outdoor ice-skating rink, hiking tracks and walks,
etc
The local population of Caux comprises a hundred permanent
residents, as well as those, in love with the region, who own secondary
residences, or rather chalets!
During the academic year, around 400
people, students and teachers at the SHMS (Swiss Hotel Management School),
as well as the IC (Initiatives of Change) lecturers and participants ,
come to enrich village life.
In Caux, depending on the season, you
may:
Go ice-skating, skiing,
hiking or play tennis.
The
outdoor skating rink is only open during cold weather, from about
mid-December to mid-March. It is entirely natural, of a very large surface area,
in the midst of a pine forest.
The
Caux ski resort is for beginners or children. A little ski lift
allows for a few runs without too much effort. The more experienced skier would
find the Jaman or Rochers-de-Naye ski domains, more of a challenge and a real
pleasure. They are accessible by train (MOB Montreux-Rochers-de-Naye).
The
tennis courts are open from about June to September. Both courts
are located in the middle of the village, 5 mins by foot from the train station.
For
walkingtours or hikes, information is
available at the
Montreux
Tourist Office or buy a map of local hikes and walks at the train stations
of Montreux, Glion or Caux.
For example; the Narcissus Path is a very pretty walk in the village of Caux. A sign-posted path guides you through magnificent fields of Narcissus (May-June).
